Garden care

Regular rounds, what a visit covers and what it costs.

Fortnightly suits most gardens through spring and summer, when hedges and beds grow fastest. Through winter, every three to four weeks is usually enough. We will suggest a frequency when we see the garden.

It depends on the size of the garden and what is in it. We walk the property with you, then send a fixed price per visit within 24 hours. Regular rounds work out cheaper per visit than one-off clean-ups.

Yes. Clippings, prunings and weeds are removed on every visit, so there is nothing left for you to deal with.

Yes, this is a big part of what we do in Dunsborough, Eagle Bay and Yallingup. We can time visits around changeovers so the garden is tidy whenever guests arrive.

Lawn care

Mowing, feeding and bringing tired lawns back.

Weekly or fortnightly through spring and summer, when the grass grows fastest. Through winter, every three to four weeks is usually enough. We will suggest a frequency when we see the lawn.

It depends on the size of the lawn and how much edging there is. We look at the property, then send a fixed price per visit within 24 hours. Regular rounds work out cheaper per visit than one-off cuts.

Usually, yes. We start by working out why it is struggling, whether that is compaction, water-repellent sand, shade or the wrong grass type, then fix the cause with aeration, wetting agents, feeding and overseeding. Where a lawn is past saving, we strip, level and re-turf it.

Warm season grasses like couch, kikuyu and buffalo handle the sandy soil and dry summers best, and each has its own mowing height and feeding needs. We will tell you what you have and set the round up for it.

Turf

Laying new turf on sandy coastal soil and repairing patchy lawns.

Autumn and spring are ideal, when the soil is warm but the heat has eased, so the turf roots in fast with less water. Summer laying is possible with a proper watering schedule. Winter is slower but still works.

Warm season grasses do best here. Couch and kikuyu handle full sun and wear, buffalo copes better with shade and salt air. We will recommend one for the site once we have seen it.

It depends on the area, how much ground work is needed and the grass type. We measure up, then send a fixed written quote within 24 hours that covers removal, preparation, turf and laying.

Keep off it for the first two weeks while it roots, then light use is fine. The first mow is usually two to three weeks in, once it has knitted to the ground.

Often, yes. Worn patches and dead areas can be cut out and relaid to match the existing grass, and thin lawns can be helped with aeration, feeding and overseeding before re-turfing is needed.

Landscaping

Planning, building and looking after a new garden.

It depends entirely on the scope, from a bed makeover to a full garden build. We walk the site with you, talk through what you want, then send a fixed written quote within 24 hours with the work itemised.

Yes, for most residential projects. We work out the layout, levels, plants and materials with you on site and quote the build from that. For larger jobs we can work from a designer's plan too.

Natives and hardy coastal plants that handle sand, wind and salt air: coastal rosemary, grevilleas, lomandra, kangaroo paw and the like. We choose for the spot and improve the soil so they establish.

A bed makeover or path is usually a day or two. A full front or back garden build runs from a few days to a couple of weeks depending on the size and whether turf and retic are involved.

Yes. Most of our landscaping customers move onto a regular maintenance round afterwards, so the same person who built the garden keeps it looking the way it did on handover.

Visits and areas we cover

Access, holiday homes and where we work.

No. Most of our customers are not. We arrange access the first time, then let ourselves in through the side gate, do the work and lock up after. You get a message when the visit is done.

Yes. Holiday homes in Dunsborough, Eagle Bay and Yallingup are a big part of what we do. We keep the lawn and garden tidy year round so the place is guest ready, and we let ourselves in through the side gate and lock up after, so you never need to be there.

Tideside Lawns covers Dunsborough, Eagle Bay, Yallingup, Quindalup, Vasse, Busselton and Broadwater. If you are nearby and not on that list, get in touch, we can usually fit you in.
